Default New Cairns 880 Tradition Helmet

I see that Cairns has re-introduced the 880 Tradition Helmet. It is suppossed to be a lower profile than other traditional style helmets. Has anyone tried this yet? Just wondering what it is like.

I have only heard about them. Lower profile and lighter. I would like to see one, but I doubt I would buy one. I like my Paul Conway

I have only seen the picture in a magazine ad. To me, it looks smaller, almost like a metro size with traditional style (hard to tell in a pic though). Sort of weird lookin'... and it looks like the rear brim has a smooth surface vs. the immitation tooling like a 1010 would have. I'll keep my issued 1010 until I buy my N6A.

Did it look like a traditional helmet, or did it funny?

I have seen them and don't like them. Nothing compares to my Benny II.

Saw the new 880 last week when the dealer tried to drop some on us, "styling of the traditionals, with the safety of a 660" is what he was telling us. Ill stick with my Ben 2 and my N5A until the 880 "proves" itself.

A local salesman brought by a prototype for us to try out. I must say, it's not very well constructed, small plastic tabs hold the head band to the shell and it feels very flimsy. I know they want to keep the price down, but they need to work on the quality.

The old 880's were a pretty good compromise for those who couldn't afford leather. They construction now sounds similar to how they used to be made, and Chicago used to use them(anyone know if they still do?).

We have a few still in service here, they range from probably 15 to 20 years old, and most have held up well.
