Mayor dies after massive heart attack
(Benton-AP) -- The mayor of the southern Illinois city of Benton
has died after suffering a massive heart attack.
Mayor Paul Rogers died this morning, two days after he drove
himself to the hospital after experiencing chest pains.
The lifelong Benton resident and former fire chief was sworn in
as Benton mayor on May 12th. He joined the Benton Fire Department
as a volunteer when he was only 16 and worked with the department
for 40 years.
Rogers had served on school boards and the Benton Township Board
of Trustees. And he ran a successful accounting business for many
years.
Funeral arrangements are pending.

Benton has had a good department over the years and I'm sure Mr. Rogers would have been a great asset to the city of Benton during his term.
