We had jut gotten new gear about a week before this, most people were wearing it for the 1st time. That part of the districr is very flat. Our district goes from 5500-8500 ft elevation from south to north.

Sure. That's what they all say. J/K

We got new gear about a year ago, and some of the members' gear still looks brand new. They don't like to get in the middle of the crapstorm and get the job done like I do. My gear is very stained and broken in now, and even has a tear in it. Chief said he's gonna start calling me pigpen, because I always get my gear so dirty. And of course I always get accused of wearing my gear 24/7 and rolling around in the ashes.

I just found the tear the other day. It's only about 1 cm long and doesn't compromise the integrity of the pants in any way. It is located in the outer shell, at the top of the pants, and is covered by the jacket while wearing it.

It is still a tear in the outer shell of your PPE and should be addressed and dealt with.

My dream — and I hope you don't find this too crazy — is that I would like the people of this community to feel that if, God forbid, there were a fire, calling the fire department would actually be a wise thing to do. You can't have people, if their houses are burning down, saying, 'Whatever you do, don't call the fire department!' That would be bad."
