I am on the left (for those that forgot about me), pictured here at Sutphen Towers on 5/22/06 during our final inspection of our new Quint. With me was our Chief (center)who retired on May 31 and the Captain who was named Interim Chief to replace him effective 6/1/06 and subsequently promoted to Fire Chief effective 7/27/06.

Seeing as SteveD has had his dish on here, I thought I'd step up and not let him be the token Brit. No comments about the lid please...leather "may" be for ever, but plastic prevails!!

I downloaded this but could use a helping hand.

I called to see what kind of activities will take place at the BBQ and suggested a water contest. Spoke with the FF ( the Big Dog, 29 yrs in) who is helping set up for it. He said the City complains about using the water for such events now. They still have the old wire or rope hanging with the ball on it at one of the stations where they used to hold those events. He was delighted I mentioned it and reminisced a few minutes, then said maybe we could motivate a few people to start holding events again.

Don't know what y'all consider "Hoseball" but back home it consisted of two teams of 6, with two 1-1/2 inch hoselines each, with forestry nozzles, an enclosed tennis court, about 3000 gal of water in a standing port-a-tank, and all the really old (non-compliant) bunker gear we could scrounge out of the closets. And one basketball, and two hockey nets.

The idea is to move the ball into the opposing team's net - of course, by using the water pressure from the hose - not your feet! After about 5 min of wearing full bunkers, boots and lids, that stuff gets aweful dang heavy to run around in, but what fun!

This activity of course is best done on the hotest of days.... such as we are about to get in the next 24 to 48hrs.............
