I am doing some research on the MINIMUM requirement for a brand new firefighter to be able to begin structural firefighting. I want to know what your state laws requires for training. I also would like to know what the MINIMUM requirement to be a fire officer in your state.

Firefighter Training Requirements

To become a firefighter in california first it varies from Department to department
mimium requirement
18 yrs of age
GED or High School diploma
No criminal record
Be in good physical condtioning
CA Drivers license
Be able to become an EMT-B within 6 months of being hired
Some FD's require you already complete the academy other's put you through once your hiredEngine 101

... US citizenship or permanent residency.
Also, some places will hire you without a CA DL, but require you to get one before the academy ends.

Did some researching and found some FD's want you to have your Paramedic cert upon applying to the department

Thanks for all the replys,but what I am looking to find out is if the state of California mandates any classes to began structural firefighting.and if so how many hours.
