Default New Tabs on Front Page

We've added some new technology to the home page which allows us to put more features 'above the fold' using tabbed sections, two specific 'boxes' on the right hand column that include content from six of the most popular features on Firehouse.com.

These features should work on most current browsers, and allow you to quickly gain access to the services you want. We're always looking for new ways to drive the features toward the top of the page that our visitors want more. Each of the features highlighed is visited thousands of times daily.

Its easy to go from tab to tab by simply clicking on the section title. The tab concept is simliar to that used on ESPN.com and other mainstream sites to deploy the maximum amount of features.

What do you think of these new tabs? Are they helpful?

Can you double check with the MembersZone ad, it should appear only once per user unless your security settings are very higher.

And those of us who have already paid money to be in the member zone really don't want to see the ad!

Well there's no way to totally make sure those not already registered dont see it the one time. But unless your security settings are set really high, you should only see it once, ever, as any ad of that type. The MembersZone ad will be replaced with something a bit more exciting (ad wise) next week.

    Thumbs down It's gotta go.

Nothing is more annoying than toys and gizmos that kids want to play with just because they can. Get rid of the helicopter. It makes me want to skip the homepage entirely and I doubt that's what your are looking for people to do.

Is the ad appearing just once for folks?

It should appear just once and then never again.

If it IS appearing more than once:

    - What version browser are you using?
    - What are your security/cookie acceptance settings if you know?

    Thanks

It comes on when you go to home page and I think it came on when I signed on as well.
    I think.

If you've been having trouble with the ad appearing multiple times, we think that has now been fixed. Users should see a specific ad no more than once ever from a particular computer (unless your security settings are the highest, in which case most sites would like a mess...)

Please let us know if this is indeed working.

Webteam, I've noticed that the helicopter thing comes onto my screen every time I open up the homepage "for the 1st time" daily. No bother to me, but as I'm not a very computer literate person, I can't answer anything about my security settings. I'm like ChiefReason though, the first time it appeared, it scared the bejesus out of me.

We've removed the sound, that shouldnt be happening any more, is that still the case? What type of browser are you using?

These ads will run one campaign at a time to minimize the impact, and should appear just once per person ever ... or at MOST, once per day depending on your browser.

    Thanks
    WebTeam
