I have a St Florian medallion attached to my inside bunker coat pocket and a St Florian charm thingy all the time. I also have a picture of my wife and son in my helmet.

Smile One of my most touching gifts....

My husband of 24 years bought me a St. Florain necklace. After he put in on me, we bowed our heads in silence for a brief moment. It's never been off this girls neck since.

I've ofter held it between my fingers after a call for a moment of reflection.

Do I think it works? Do I believe it holds some "magic" protective powers?....Got me. But I DO believe in the old addage, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I celebrated 23 years as a firefighter this past October and my 18 year old daughter just purchased St. Florian charms to hang from a small ribbon in all my departments trucks. Guess she thinks as mom ages she can use all the help she can get!

I carry a St. Florian coin in my left front pocket. It's become part of my morning ritual - keys, wallet, money clip, St. Florian coin...

I also keep a picture of my kids inside my helmet. It's the last thing I see before I go into a dangerous situation - just a subtle reminder that they need me to come home after every call. Reminds me to be careful...not stupid or reckless.

Though "retired", I continue to wear my St. Florian. In my "retired" helmet, I still have a copy of the "Firefighter's Prayer".

I dont have anything in my gear, but I have worn a Celtic medalion non stop for 5 years. It is the symbol for "adventure".

When I break the cord holding it or lose it for a short time I do feel that my luck goes bad, but I am not supersticious...

-Mistakes: It could be that the purpose of you life is to serve as a warning to others.

-Adversity: That which does not kill me postpones the inevitable.

-Despair: Its always darkest before it goes Pitch Black.

I have a reflective green shamrock on my helmet. I still have my original shamrock from when I started but you can hardly recognize it. It is on the underside of my helmet. I have a newer one on the very back of my helmet that is visable. I also have worn a St. Florian medal around my neck that never comes off. had that since I started too. I'm not even Catholic but thought it doesn't hurt.

Cross around my neck. I've had it for four years and it doesn't come off...ever. Have been considering the 23rd Psalm in my helmet liner for awhile. Just gotta' do it!
