GRASS FIRE WITH MOBILE HOME INVOLVEMENT

On Wednesday, December 3, 2003 at 1428 hours five companies of Firefighters, one Rescue Ambulance, one Helicopter and one Water Tender under the direction of Battalion Commander Roy E. Prince responded to a grass fire at 10803 Noble Avenue in the Mission Hills area. First units on scene reported approximately one-half acre of grass, foliage and trees well involved with fire extending into an older twenty-five foot mobile home. Firefighters using handlines confined the fire to the area of origin and the mobile home and extinguished the fire in twenty-six minutes. Prior to Fire Department arrival two LAPD Officers attempted forcible entry into the mobile home under the assumption people were in there. No occupants were found. The Officers sustained moderate smoke inhalation and were transported to Kaiser Hospital-Panorama City in stable conditon. No other injuries were reported. The forty-five year old female and her two sons, ages nine and eleven that occupied the mobile home were displaced as a result of the fire and were assisted by the Red Cross for shelter.
