NJ FF LODD

On Saturday, December 6th, 2004 - Ronald Fitzpatrick, 68, a retired Newark firefighter and a volunteer with the of the Phil Day Hose Company of the Long Branch Fire Department, died in the line of duty.

The Associated Press reported, that a blaze had started at an abandoned commercial building in Long Branch at about 4:15 p.m. Before the fire was brought under control, Fitzpatrick died while battling the blaze. The cause of death was believed to be a heart attack.

A funeral is being held on Thurs. at 10 a.m. at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church, 800 Ocean Ave., Long Branch, N.J., 07740.
