Man indicted for arson in aborted suicide
Thursday, December 11, 2003
A troubled man who wanted to commit suicide by standing in a burning mobile police unit in June has been indicted on arson charges.
A grand jury in Superior Court in Paterson handed up the indictment Tuesday, charging Luis Baker, 30, of Paterson with third-degree arson.
Baker could receive a three- to five-year prison sentence if he is convicted.
According to authorities, Baker was a drug addict who wanted to kill himself inside a Paterson Police Mobile Trailer parked inside the Alexander Hamilton Housing Development on June 11.
He used gasoline to light a fire inside the trailer and stood amid the flames, authorities said. But Baker became terrified by the heat of the flames and jumped out a window.
Baker sought to hide from police inside the housing complex, but he left a trail of blood that led officers to him, authorities said.

Well, look on the bright side. At least it was the police trailer and not the FD's fire safety trailer....Even the burger-flippers at McDonald's probably have some McWackers.

Why would you ever want to burn yourself alive when you could step out in front of a bus and get it over with so much quicker?
I guess I can understand why some folks want to cash in their chips, but to do it in such an elaborate and drawn out way makes no sense to me.
Never argue with an Idiot. They drag you down to their level, and then beat you with experience!
