Ask for a portable 800MHZ scanner, try Radio Shack for one.

If you want a good portable 800mhz, go with the Uniden Bearcat BC80XLT.. Affordable, and I rate these a lot higher than Radio Shack.

Well the only problem with that is what the county board is telling my chief's and that is no one will be able to pick up anything. Te fact is that they dont want anyone listening to them and until a few years goes by noone will be able to.

Yeah the sheriff's department here got radios with the incripted channels, so they can talk on the same channel or switch to the incripted for that channel, they can only talk to each other or dispatch on the incripted. The Kentucky state police went to digital a few years ago it cannot be picked up by anyone but them. This is good for information that the world doesnt need to hear i suppose.

They are probably using the MT 2000. Geneva PD thought about switching to it or maybe to an 800Mhz Duplex System.
