    Talking Badges

    Hello I have a question
Once you received your certificate of compliance for firefighter minimum standards, can you order a badge saying that you are a certified fire fighter with putting the name of any city?
is it against the law or no?

Well no, if your not a member of a fire department then you dont need a badge saying you are a firefighter with that department. And whats having a bage that says your a certified firefighter gonna do for you anyway. You cant just show up a fire any where and flash your badge and just go in and start fightin fire. And i'd think that would be illegal if you went around with a badge sayin you were a firefighter with a department that you arent.

    Question Why buy a badge?

I feel that badges are earned buy becoming a member of a Fire Department. That is much better than buying one. A badge isn't something you should carry to show off, as that only serves to harm the image of the fire service.

All of our explorers are issued badges after 1 year in the program and pass certain education guidelines. With most things in our program they are earned not just given.
