    Question What color helmet does your dept. issue to explorers?

    Our department issues Orange Bullard helmets for the explorers/juniors. The duty staff get the same helmets, but they are black. Some of the officers, such as the Captains get leather.

    Juniors get yellow plastic, some have 660 C metros and some have Paul Conway plastic traditionals, and two of us have Cairns N6A Houstans in the natural brown like the senior members.

    Let's see we have a weird helmet structure:

    Jr's have Orange Cairns 660

    Firefighters mostly have Black 660's but others like me have a Black Ben 2 Plus

    Lieutenant's & Capatin's have Red 1010's

    Chiefs have white 1010's

    Same color as the firefighters.........yellow,but they were donations so there was no choice. Explorers had 770,everyone else had 660. We did have the explorer crescents though and also did not run calls so it made no real difference.

    Blue Chieftan 1910s, some have blue or green 660s though, in the process of getting them switched to the traditional 1910s. I have my own 1910 with bourkes (carry safety glasses in pocket), a gift from my godparents. Saving for a N6A.

    Not too bad, they were hunter green, but downtown said that they looked too black at night. So I happily gave up the salad bowl for a tradtional lid, now if I can get some money for a N6A.

    Ones that protect our heads.lol we have the same as all the other firefighters black, except if there is not enough 1010's for senior members then we have to swap out for a red salad bowl. but since there are only 2 juniors left right not its no big deal and i have my own leather now so that narrows it down

    FireFighters = Yellow
    Juniors/Probies = Yellow with Green Diamond stickers
    Lieutenants = Red
    Capt, Asst. Chief, Chief = White
    The majority of our helmets are Cairns N660Cs. You have the choice of purchasing Morning Pride Ben 2s if you want.

    The explorers are distinguished by the black gear and we all have LEATHER helmets, even the department out of about 35 people (professional and call firefighters)there are only 2 plastic lids.

    Explorers get black helmet. But they say explorer on them.
    The Explorer Chief gets an orange helmet.

    To be able to tell the difference between explorers and firefighters, we have blue reflective bands around the arms of their turnout coat. That way, from a distance when you cant read the helmet, you know.

    Blaze Orange 1000's baby! Spray painted on but hey it works. With a nice CADET on the back bill of the helmet. Really helps when you are looking for your helmet, yours is the only orange one out of the other 12 yellow ones.

    Orange. I have a yellow one though because I'm a quasi-Explorer/firefighter and I'm a holdover from the old days. I get to keep my yellow lid when I "retire" officially.
