    Question Ladder 49

    Hey everyone...

I haven't heard any recent news about the upcoming film, Ladder 49, in quite awhile. Last I heard, it was going to be in the theatres in January 2004. Does anyone know if this is still true? Or does anyone have any updates? I am really looking forward to this movie, but I have not even seen a preview in the theatres, or on t.v. Any news would be appreciated.

    Thanks and Happy Holidays!

    Cool Thanks!

Thanks for the info. On one hand I really appreciate it. But on the other hand, that is very bad news! I have so been looking forward to the release of this movie. The idea of having to waiting another 10 months is devestating! But, on the flip side, it looks like it is going to be worth the wait. Happy holidays and thanks again.

Sure it's a long time but if it lives up to the hype then it's worth it. Besides, 10 months might be a blessing. The movie opens during Fire Prevention week. Between now and then Fire Departments should be making plans on milking this for all the public education and PR we can get. Theater owners should be contacted about allowing local Firefighters to set up displays either inside the lobby or outside in the theater parking lot. Department PIOs and Saftey officers should be making trips to the office supply stores for supplies for displays and information tables. In the past my VFD has handed out keychains, lollipops, inkpens and pencils with our logo and fire saftey messages on them. Think of the exposure we could get if every movie theater in the country had firefighters in the lobby on opening weekend. Even the people going to see other movies would be exposed to our Fire Saftey slogans. The theater owner would have something to point to as showing his civic involvement. The Media exposure would mean more people would know about the Fire Department participation at the theater and those people may be more inclined to see the movie there. The more people that come to the theater means more people get our message and the more money the movie makes in ticket sales. The theater owner wins. The Fire Department wins. The movie wins.
Come on everyone, only 10 months to get everything set up.

    Travolta In Fire Drama

Hollywood legend John Travolta feared for his life when a stunt went dramatically wrong on the set of his new movie and caused a massive fire. The Saturday Night Fever hero had to be rescued for a blazing building while training to be a firefighter in current flick Ladder 49, in which he co-stars with Joaquin Phoenix. Big-boned Travolta reminisces, "We had to locate a door and get out while dealing with real smoke and fire. But we got lost." Genuine firemen were called to the scene and pulled the two stars to safety. A Hollywood spy says, "It was a very frightening situation. Travolta and Phoenix were trapped. Fortunately they were both ok and Travolta laughed it off."

For those that have never had any connection to show business:

The postponing of a release date has a very bad connotation. It usually means a film is not going to generate the amount of revenue anticipated (BAD MOVIE). The film industry pushes release dates forwards in order to see if other films will make enough to make up for the projected shortfall in their income and if it doesnt, they wont release the film at all, or it will go straight to video...

    SOOOO....bad news for the film

The release date was NOT postponed, just to correct the last post.

The movie completing filming in July, completed post production in November/December, and was placed on the Disney schedule in December with the Oct. 8 release date.

The opening date is not a total coincidence since it is Fire Prevention Week...it was always going to come out in Late Summer/Fall 2004, as it is.

Hey, as long as it's not Direct To Video. That's a bad sign for sure.

I was only responding to the information that was posted...i havent been following the film enough to know whether the film was actually postponed or not...

hope that it is good to tell you the truth even if i think that mr travolta cant act his way out of a paper bag...

    Thumbs up

Just came back from hangin out with Joaquin a few days ago in Philly where he is filming another movie and he told us that the first cut of the movie did extremely well it scored 94% rating so the post production is being very careful with the timing of the release so that it will be a huge blockbuster and also for the awards ceremony for the actors(ex;oscars) everyone in the BCFD is very excited to see the movie and if I hear any more info I will let you know

Ouch - that is a lot of pieces of apparatus parked inside the collapse zone of a building that obviously has very heavy fire.

Probly the only way to fit all of them into the shot.
