MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - A collision between a car and a fire truck
at a south Mobile intersection killed the two people in the car,
authorities said.
Investigators said they are looking into the possibility the
Lincoln Town Car pulled in front of the fire truck, which was on
its way to an emergency medical call Monday morning.
No firefighters were injured in the crash, said Steve Huffman,
Mobile Fire-Rescue Department spokesman.
Police identified the two victims as Claude Farmer, 84, and his
wife, Pilo Farmer, 64.
Huffman and witnesses said the fire truck's emergency lights and
siren were on at the time of the crash.
Witnesses said the fire truck veered in an attempt to miss the
car, and after the collision, the truck pushed the car about 50
feet into a tree.
