News of the day: ODOT required all vehicles to chain up from Oregon and Washington border to the Oregon and California line, roughly 300+ miles of interestate five requiring vehicles to have chains on all vehicles in the state, due to the winter storm in the state, that surprisingly hit the state earlier this morning.

ODOT officals ask, that to motorists that must travel to call ODOT road information at 511 or look up their website at www.tripcheck.com for current road conditions. OFP will provide updates where possible as information becomes available to the newsdesk staff.

City of Eugene Officials ask that motorist's not park or leave (abandon) their vehicle's along priorty routes - River Road, Highway 99, Chambers Street hill in west Eugene, 6th and 7th Avenue's in both directions (west/east) or vehicles will be towed. City public works department has declared severe snow emergency along the list routes until further notice.

City of Eugene had 4" of snow earlier today, record was set for 5" of snow in 1996. More snow is forecasted through the tomorrow and the weekend with 2-4" possible on Saturday morning.

A fire broke out at 4878 Chaincraft @ Garfield Alloys. The fire was fueled by Magnesium. There were numerous explosions reported as the fire burned. Numerous mutual aid departments were called into assist.
