U.P. train derails outside Milford
MILFORD (AP) — A Union Pacific train carrying consumer goods from Salt Lake City to Los Angeles derailed in western Utah Saturday.
No injuries were reported, but miserable weather conditions kept company officials from reaching the site until late Saturday.
The double-stacked train was headed from Salt Lake City to Los Angeles when it derailed about 9:50 a.m. in "whiteout" conditions about 40 miles northeast of Milford, company spokesman John Bromley said.
The tracks parallel U-257 and some cars came close to the road and forced its closure.
The cause of the derailment is under investigation.
