    Question Building a HazMat Engine

    Hello out there,

I am currently riding an engine company which also switches over to a hazmat rig. In my department we have four hazmat teams responding out of two stations. We are looking into building a hazmat engine similar to a rescue engine to enhance our response time utilizing only one rig per team. My question to you, is there any major cities that have already tried this idea. The compartment space needs to be big enough for overpack drums and a research area is needed in the cab. But it still must maintain all duties of an engine company (1000ft 5in, 500 gal tank, highrise and rit packs). We still plan to maintain at least two large scale units for decon.

    Thanks

Look at FDNY, Squad companies. They are all HAZMAT Techs.

They do, look under "The Rig", move cursor over compartment you want to see.
