Well, now that 2003 has come and gone it's about time we heard how everyone's year went. How many calls did your stations do? My station did 6731(we just count the calls. we don't count for each truck going on the call). I was surprised, it didn't feel that busy. I must be getting used to it.

The Marlborough Fire Department ended 2003 with a total of 4,987 incidents. I haven't had the time to break them down to incident type (fire, EMS, MVA, hazmats, special calls) as of yet.
We also did 1,312 fire inspections."The education of a firefighter and the continued education of a firefighter is what makes "real" firefighters. Continuous skill development is the core of progressive firefighting. We learn by doing and doing it again and again, both on the training ground and the fireground."

It will be right around 39,000 for the year- about 9600, give or take, fire related; the rest medical. Will edit when I hear the actual numbers.

Asking our Lt. in charge of run forms, he indicated that in 2003 we ran about 510 alarms. He is not done compiling the actual totals, so this figure may change. Last year we ran approximately 630 calls.
We're down from the previous year, but have started strongly this year with 8 alarms in 5 days."The uniform is supposed to say something about you. You get it for nothing, but it comes with a history, so do the right thing when you're in it."

1 station with maximum of 5 people on duty per shift. City area only.
Calls for 2003 = 1877. This is down 1.1 calls/day from last year but you have to consider the fact that we lost a huge amount of coverage area when the County took it from us.09-11 .. 343 "All Gave Some..Some Gave ALL" God Bless..R.I.P.

We ran 162 calls in 2003, which is down from the 185 we ran in 2002, and down from the 240 we ran in 2001 (notice a trend?). Only calls of notation were 2 shed fires, a car fire, and a chimney fire, no other fires (luckily?)

Somewhere close to 1200 for us. It has been increasing exponetially each year, as we go mutual aid more and more often. I expect to see over 2000 by next year as we start our AMARS agreement in June and help out a department being put to the budget screws by the government and them seeing over 3000 in 2003.
It will be a busy summer, that's for sure.
