*** REPORT FROM THE LINE OF FIRE ***

LOS ANGELES, CA:
FATALITY GREATER ALARM STRUCTURE FIRE

On Monday, January 12, 2004 at 0334 hours, fourteen companies of Firefighters, four Battalion Officer Command Teams, one EMS Supervisor and six Rescue Ambulances under the command of Assistant Chief R. J. Garcia responded to a greater alarm structure fire at 8560 Tujunga Avenue in the Sun Valley area. First units on scene reported a 100’ by 150’ one-story commercial well involved with fire. Firefighters using handlines and aided by heavy stream appliances confined the fire to “Kennedy Marketing”, a bar supply business and extinguished the fire in one hour and twelve minutes. During overhaul operations the remains of two adults were found. No Firefighter injuries were reported, however, a forty-two year old male occupant of the building suffered minor burns and was transported to an area hospital in stable condition. The loss is still being tabulated and the cause is listed as under active investigation.
