LOS ANGELES, CA:
MAJOR EMERGENCY STRUCTURE FIRE:

On Tuesday, January 13, 2004, at 1033 hours (10:33 a.m.), nineteen companies of Los Angeles Firefighters, six Battalion Officer Command Teams, one Battalion EMS Supervisor, and four LAFD Rescue Ambulances, under the direction of Assistant Chief Michael Fulmis, responded to a reported Structure Fire at 1021 North Mission Road in the China Town/Civic Center area. First units on the scene reported a one-story, 50’ x 100’, commercial building with heavy smoke and fire showing from the rear of the structure. Firefighters using handlines aggressively attacked the fire and extinguished the fire in thirty-two minutes. The fire was confined to a three hundred gallon paint mixer at “T & T Pathway” a paint manufacturing company. The fire was held in check by the building’s sprinkler system that helped prevent the fire from spreading throughout the structure. Seventeen individuals inside the structure self evacuated prior to the arrival of the fire department and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is listed as an “over heated paint mixer”. Fire damage is estimated at $125,000. ($100,000 contents and $25,000 structure)
