PHILADELPHIA (AP) - A firefighter who was critically injured
last week while battling a house fire died in a hospital Thursday
afternoon, authorities said.
Lt. Derrick Harvey, a 14-year veteran of the Philadelphia Fire
Department, died at the Temple Burn Center, where he had been since
Friday's fire.
He was hurt at a fire in the basement of a two-story house in
the city's Logan section. The fire was started because combustibles
were placed too close to a heater.
A black banner was draped at the Fire Department headquarters in
Harvey's honor. Funeral arrangements were not immediately
available.
