    Default Academy Class: Junior Firefighter

I along with another junior from my department have been signed up for a Junior Firefighter class that is being held at the County Fire Academy. I've been wanting to take this class since i joined but have just recently had the opportunity to signup for it.

Question is, does your county fire academy or training facility have a junior firefighter class. If so, what do they teach?

Well we dont have a fire academy or anythign like that here in kentucky, we just have regional weekend fire schools and they offer a jr. FFs class or essentials class at most of them. They teach of cousre the basic essentials, history of the fire service, fire behavior, and just the basic like ppe and things of that nature.

The Junior Firefighter Training class at the CC Fire Academy costs $75 in county and $85 out-of-county.

Firefighter I costs $100. for an extra $25, i could go through FF1 that is, when i'm old enough. JR FF is almost like FF1 except for some things and live evolutions.

We have a county fire school every april. They offer junior firefighting classes ages 14-17. They go over just about everything you go over in essentials but its only a week long. Different age groups go over different things and they build on that so pretty much if you take the class when you 14,15,16,17 years old, you will get everything with an essentials class execpt the live burn and the essentials certificate.
