Not since August. We've come a long way in the 21 years I've been there. From a keg always in the fridge to 12 packs at an overhaul to drinking after our steak dinners to soda and water.
Every silver lining's got a touch of grey...I wiilll get by....

Geneva has a "ZERO TOLERANCE" policy. No one can even come down for a call back when they have drank that night, unless it has been 4 to 5 hours or so.

NO
Only water and soda here also, except for a nasty cup of coffee now and then. We have been dry for 2-3 years and just an occasional beer before that. We never kept it at the firehouse. There were a few ****ed off about the ban but they got over it.
Last time ISO came to inspect the very first question he asked was if we had a refrigerator. He stated if there was any beer in it the inspection would be over.Proudly serving as Vice-President of the Illinois Delegation of the IACOJ

Well, I didn't get sent packing down the RR tracks last night. Nobody objeted to removing the beer from the station. Not one soul. I'm pretty proud of them for realizing that alcohol doesn't belong there. Not everybody was there so I'm anxious to see what the others will think come Saturday.
From the looks of the poll, we're one of the last "party stations" in Illinois! Well, we were, anyway.Jack Boczek, Chief

Actually, it was busch lite and michelob ultra (got a carb conscious gal on the dept). We tried to empty out the fridge after the meeting but we didn't quite make it. Maybe we'll do it again Sat.

Cap, come on down, there's still plenty left. Leave early enough to get here at noon and we'll warm up the leftover spaghetti, too.
You gotta remember, too, that there were only 3 of us left at 10:00 and we all had to work today.
You know, I worked on cars for 25 years and a carb was what got the gas into the holes. A lot has changed.Jack Boczek, Chief

We banned any alcohol several years ago. One of the best things we ever did.

Greetings from North Ga.
Moved to the bible belt from St Charles Il in 92. Beer in the station? Not in this dry county or any other station in Ga!!! Someone thaught he smelled beer on a volunteers breath...He is no longer a vol. However, fishing and hunting are great and the winters are mild. Did freeze a front mount pump on the way to a call a couple winters ago. Bob FTM-KTF

Jack, I've still been floating around. Been busy though. Had some training coordinator duties added to my plate at the first of the year plus trying to get some ideas ready for the new grant round and planning a pancake breakfast amongst the rest. Are you guys having a pancake breakfast? If you are, I'd like to call you or email you and pick your brain. This will be our first and I could use some advice.
Got measured for our new gear last Saturday. Earl came over and we ordered 60/40 Kevlar/Nomex Veridian in khaki. I've heard Jerry over in Orchardville is still waiting on his and it's been almost 6 months.(Hope that's not true!) We got our new pagers (Nice to be able to hear a call every time now! Actually missed a bad 10-50 last fall because my pager had a habit of not going off.) and radios about 2 weeks ago and have ordered our new ISI Viking air packs. Hopefully the packs will come in the next couple of months.SFPD Member MABAS Division 47

Our rules say no alcohol in the station at all at any time. Also, you are out of service from the time you start drinking until 8 hours after your last drink.
