the Highland Twp. Fire Explorers are working on the same thing. we found out that if you can go to a place like sams club and get a couple of cases of water and sell them at a local parade for a dollad a bottle. hold a car wash, take donations. if it is all right with the cheif see if you can spray down the cars with one of the trucks.

try searching the forms for this one i know it has been up before.

I'm not sure how many other posts have ever done this, but this is what the explorer post did while I was in, and they still do it.

It is called a "wake-a-thon". What happens, is everybody wakes up at 6am on a friday. Usually a school day, so everyone is on the honor system to wake up at 6am, and it goes til Sunday at noon. You try to stay away for the whole 54 hours. You get pledges from your family, friends or whoever esle. They can pledge you by the hour, or just do a strait up donation. An example is, someone sponsor you for 10 cents for every hour you stay up. If you stay up the whole time, you get 5.40. If you have 20 people sponsor you for 10 cents each, then you will get 108 dollars. Some people may pledge more or less. Now, depending on how many explorers you have, that can add up pretty fast.

During the wake a thon, you plan a bunch of fun events. We used to do all kinds of things such as dunkin for onions in a bucket of ice water. A coloring contest, usually around midnight on sunday morning (or sat night) however you look at it. kinda funny to see how bad people color when they are tired. Just plan it out for activities, so people stay busy and can stay awake. We held it at our fire station. You can hold it pretty much anywhere.

This is just an idea of a way you can have fun and make money at the same time.

We painted all the fire hydrants in the city for the water department. It was a lot of work, but it paid off big. Well worth the effort since we were able to attend the explorer conference at the NFA.

Ive suggested a car wash before, and we used to stand outside of like supermarkets and home depot and such asking for donations. Recently we are doing a raffle for a FDNY commerative axe.

We just go done this past weekend doing a Chicken BBQ. A whole lot of work, but we made a lot of money off of it.

We have also done: various corporations fund raisers, like pizza's, popcorn.

We have also done car washes, and a couple bake sales.
