Look at it this way -- Your "Job" will be better than their job.

    Angry Look Kid........................... ...

If you ain't careful, you could end up like me. Quit school, didn't want to get a job, just hang at the firehouse, no life. Then, finally, a FD job!! after 4 years, quit that one for a better one. Retired, with honors, after working 20 years, at age 43. Kids are grown and gone, home paid for, retirement is adequate for my lifestyle, and my lovely young bride is happy. I made out good.

Now, Pay Attention. I was extremely lucky. No question. What I did, starting in 1958, you can't do today. Education is the key to a decent job today. Period. Hang in there, miss a few working fires, but come away with a good education. You can end up where I am. Stay Safe....

Hey guys I appreciate all the replies here. Hwoods you sound exactly like my father.LOL
No doubt, this day in age getting an education is everthing. Without an education you can go nowhere and I understand that big time. I actually don't mind doing school work that much. And hopefully one day I can look back like some of you guys and say man look what I worked for and be happy with all of it.

P.S. In the past 5-6 months I have been reading and posting on these threads I have actually learned quite a bit!!

    P.S.2 Off to class!!!

Yeah, but all the stuff you're 'forced' to learn and think you'll never use when you're out in the working world, will come back at the most opportune time! I can't recall the number of games of Trivial Pursuit I've won when I've remembered something I learned in high school or college. Hey, and maybe one day you'll be a firefighter contestant on Jeopardy!

Take advantage of the opportunity to learn, learn and learn some more...many people don't have even that basic right! Even tho' you think poetry stinks, one day you might have an appreciation of it, or it might tweak your interest in reading or researching something else, and then who knows what you'll end up learning?

    Just my 11 cents worth....

Or you could recite a love poem to a special girl and win her heart .......... Females (and males even though they are too macho to admit it) like poetry from the heart on occasion.

    Sorry PFire....

Junior, if you're pulling out the "love poems"...for her it may be all about the heart, but for you...young gent...it's all about the pants!!! WIN THE PANTS...the heart will soon follow!

I like poetry. I just finished writing a poem and will be posting it to a online poetry list later. It's really touching and should be received well. I put alot of work into it. It starts with-

Her hair was up in a pony tail,
her favorite dress tied with a bow.
Today was Daddy`s Day at school,
and she couldn`t wait to go.

Then it goes onto tell about how she misses her daddy cause he died. If anyone is interested I will post the entire poem here.
    Be good,
    Steve

You are so much more than just curious.
Just keep laughing. Readers Digest is gonna pay me sweet money when I submit that poem to them. Then I'll be laughing all the way to the bank.
