This is perhaps one of the stupidest acts of idiocy I have seen in a long time. I can not fathom what would make someone WANT to do this. I don't know about you but when I light fireworks, I high tail it in the opposite direction.

Classic Cartoon Technique
I love when the guy runs in with what seems to be their only bucket of water and douses the guy's shirt instead of him. It reminds me of the old cartoon move where the ambulance shows up to the car wreck, picks up the car and leaves the victim behind.

well, at least the guy shooting teh candles had eye protection. too bad the guy being shot didn't have any.
still a pretty stupid thing to doIf my basic HazMat training has taught me nothing else, it's that if you see a glowing green monkey running away from something, follow that monkey!

When I was a rookie, I got stuck working July 4th. The fact that we ran continuously all night long (fireworks related injuries and fires)was bad enough, but one idiot from one of the off duty shifts thought it would be funny to shoot a roman candle at the squad as I was backing into the station. One shot came through the window and nearly set the rig on fire. Everyone else thought it was hilarious. As the rookie, I ignored it and kept my mouth shut.
Just goes to show that not all of the idiots are on MTV.

I say lets not shoot any one with roman candles or anything else!!
Members could used their time better studing for a promotional exam, their district or learning about the new building that was recently constructed or be constructed in the first due district. Too much horse playing get members hurt and others in trouble.
Give this a thought, would you like to be the responsibably member that gets your department in the headlines, on television or even in court for some foolishness. What if the receiver from a shot from a roman candle or some other object is blinded, or even killed! What happens now? Too much to loose guys. I have seen this in our department. A guy shot another memebr with a 45.70 line thrower at close range. TWO FEET!! It was a blank cartiridge, but still hurt the guy. The injured member went to the emergency room for treatment. It cost the guy who shot the other member 2 weeks in the street!! I think had it had been me getting shot by this idiot, I whould have loose some of his teeth before I went for treatment of my injuries!!!!
No horse playing guys. Too many people can get hurt, all the way up the line.
Stay Safe and Well out there..

I agree with the majority here, this was/is a pretty stupid activity.
However, I will also be what might appear to be the first (only?) one to also admit that I have participated in similiar actitites, albeit not to this degree.
As a kid of about 13 or 14YO, some buddies and I bought Roman Candles, back in the days when they still had the red flares in them as well as the blue, white and yellow. And yes, we did have "wars" with them on Hallow'een. That activity was stopped by two things:
1) the cops showed up x2 because the CCG was getting "red flare sightings" from across the bay (I lived in a coastal town then too)
2) one of my buddies (not me - and I didn't shoot him) caught part of a fire ball in the shoulder, and the blast from it blew sparks into his left eye.
We were lucky, no damage or serious injury was done, other than a very very mild case of welders flash... but we got the point. We recognized the apparent danger that we had not "seen" when we cooked the idea up in the first place and acted accordingly... no more shooting at people. If you don't do it RIGHT today, when will you have time to do it over? Job Security, all right.
The future of the fire service is rooted in two things:
1. Medical science is so advanced, stupid people do stupid things, and we (EMS, ER) save them.
2. The stupid people then get to breed!
I suggest we start to triage for stupidity. The morons get to wait, while the little girl who fell down and got a splinter goes to the head of the line.
But, if we did that, we could mothball about 1/2 the fire service in about 10 years.

When I was a kid we used to have bottle rocket wars. We'd take a pipe of some type and use it as a handheld launcher and run through the woods in a kind of capture the flag game. Luckily nobody ever got hurt.
That was a good video but I have seen simular stuff before. Here are a few videos I think will fit in the DARWIN section. WARNING-These are from one of my favorite sites which I visit nearly every day called Consumption Junction. There you can find some of the grossest, freakiest, most discusting and disturbing things ever caught on film. Consumption Junction in for adults only. It is a free site which is supported by banner ads for adult porn websites. It is not a Disney type site. Don't open theses links if you are at work, or if you have kids who share your computer at home. If you think the Janet Jackson incident at the Super Bowl was the end of civilisation then your head will explode from the banner ads which are displayed while the videos play on this site. YOU"VE BEEN WARNED.
For everyone else, Let the fun begin-

Did you even read the "Terms of Service", Cellblock? If you did, you're obviously ignoring them.

Steamer,
What did I do but post videos of ideots playing with fire and explosives? I attached a warning to all the tender flowers who would be offended by viewing them on an Adult website. I'm sure not a few people have taken the time out of their busy day to watch people who videotape their distructive moments like these guys who found an old washing machine and decided to blow it up- Warning still applies- DON"T OPEN AT WORK- http://www.consumptionjunction.com/c...1&page=1&fav=0
That blowed up real good.

I think what Steamer is talking about is your disturbing reference to "masterbation" (sic) and fire. I am a pretty fun person who spends a lot of time and money in your State and I find this reinforces unfortunate stereotypes.
