Does anyone know if NFPA recommends how often Structural Fire Fighting gear must be replaced? I had heard it was 7 years.

The average life span of a set of turnout gear is approximately 5 years...providing it was cared for, cleaned regularly and had repairs done on an as needed basis.. of course, one fire involving methylethyltrichlorodiflouromo nobromonastybuttbadcrap will ruin it!
