    Question Chest ribbons

My department is looking into chest ribbons for various awards to wear on our Class A uniforms. If your department does something similar, your comments would be appreciated. Any ideas or suggestions of where to find chest ribbons would also be appreciated.

You can generally find the ribbons at your local uniform shops, that specialize in Fire, Police EMS type uniforms.

Our Designs has a number of different commendation bars and medals under their Awards section.

We don't really use them on our department. There's a few FFs that have a patriotic-themed commendation bar they wear on their uniforms, but I'm not sure what the story is on those (think it was a 1-time thing after Sept. 11). The awards that are given at our annual Awards Dinner are usually plaques and a gift.

Your local Blackinton dealer should be able to help you. You can see what they offer as far as medals, ribbons and bars in their online catalog.

I have no idea which company my department uses... as I have no commendation bars to wear. I know that we present them for years service (bar at five years of "good behavior," bar plus star at 10 years, etc.) and for life saving.

Ours came from Blackinton. They have a wide varity and their looks good. As for me I have some like 12 or so. I would just rather have a pay raise that it nicer than 2-1/2 to 3% each year. Some more like 10% would be better, so you can get out of the rut and live a little better.

Our department doesn't give out awards. I have seen those pins or awards that you have seen on the Gall's website (www.galls.com). Give that a try and see if it works for you...Everybody be safe out there....

The only bar that my departments wear are "Phoenix awards" for being on a CPR save call. Any other awards are usually in a plaque or certificate form.

Thank you for all your posts. I'll pass the info onto our uniform committee.
