2 uninjured when plane flips over as it lands
HITE, San Juan County A single engine, small aircraft flipped over during a landing on a dirt road in the Andy Miller Flats near Lake Powell Sunday.
A Cessna 182 was landing when a nose wheel dug into soft dirt. That caused the airplane to flip on its top, said Federal Aviation Administration regional duty officer Gary Mayer. It is unknown why the plane was landing on a dirt road.
The unidentified pilot and passenger were not injured.
Another pilot flying over the area saw the incident and called the FAA about 12:40 p.m. The FAA will investigate the incident, Mayer said.
