A windstorm moved through Guilford County at approximately 19:00 hours. County Fire units were dispatched to 165 incidents between 19:00 and 22:30 hours. Two structure fires resulted from the storm. Both of the fires were in Fire District 13.


3-8-04

13:07 hours- Greensboro Fire Communications dispatched E-10, E-231, Q-10, Rescue 5 and Car 3 to a structure fire at #2 Chateau Ct. E-10 arrived and reported, “Smoke showing”. First alarm units knocked down the fire quickly. No injuries were reported.

14:39 hours- Greensboro Fire Communications dispatched E-16, E-18, Q-9, Q-19, Rescue 5 and Car 4 to 125-E Meadowood St. reference a stove fire in an apartment. E-16 arrived and reported, “Smoke showing”. Reports indicated a kitchen fire that was well involved. First alarm units knocked down the fire quickly. No injuries were reported.

17:36 hours- Greensboro Fire Communications dispatched E-141, E-7, Q-7, Q-11, Rescue 5 and Car 2 to 700 Sharing Terrace reference a structure fire. E-141 arrived shortly after the initial dispatch and reported, “Light smoke showing”. The fire was located in the back room of a residence. Two lines were used to control the fire and protect exposures. Guilford County EMS unit 154 responded for the fire standby.

18:50 hours- Greensboro Fire Communications dispatched E-1, E-12, Q-13, Q-6 and Rescue 5 to a reported structure fire at 3832-D Mizell Rd. Q-13 arrived four minutes later and reported, “On-scene, 2 story apartment complex heavy fire showing, dispatch another engine and Air 1”. Units were on scene for several hours. No injuries were reported.


19:53 hours- Greensboro Fire Communications dispatched E-10, E-8, Q-10, Q-11, Rescue 5 and Car 3 to High Point Rd. at Holden Rd. reference a structure fire at Miami Subs. Engine 10 arrived within four minutes and reported, “Heavy smoke showing”. Two lines were used to control the fire. E-16 was added to the response at 20:06 hours. Guilford County EMS units 359, 403 and 903 responded to the incident. No injuries were reported.
