    Thumbs up training video help

Hello brothers/sisters: I am looking at supplementing our video library with something more hands on or educational than the american heat video series weve been getting for 10 or more years. Are there any suggestions out there on good videos to show job specific tasks. Please email me with info. bayleaf1@mindspring.com Capt. Roddy Hubbell, Bay Leaf Fire Dept. Raleigh, NC

    Hey Capt,

American Heat has some good videos. Most of them are of actual incidents.

Check with IFSTA, Oklahomma Univ. they have excellent training videos. The NC State Fire Training dept. should be able to assit you in this. Remember that these are training videos to show you the right way to do some things. You must still have to get outside and practice doing the trining that was seen on the tapes. Practice and contuined practice goes a long way.

Give a call to Charlotte, Greensboro or Raleigh departments. I am sure they would and can assit you.

    Good Luck.

Stay Safe & Well out there.....

These aren't the hands on type of training that you are looking for, but the price is right. FREE! The U.S. EPA's Environmental Response Teams has a library of video tapes available at no cost. Some of them show emergency response operations while others focus on remedial responses under Superfund. They also offer a quarterly video newsmagazine that often has some interesting stories.

To order, go to http://www.ert.org/menu_hp.asp and select the videos you wish to receive.

You might want to check with your local fire academy and/or neighboring departments. Your company may have something that interests the fire academy or other departments.

    Here is a link.
    Fire Engineering videos

-All the Bread and Butter Videos are excellent.

-Forcible Entry videos from Tom Brennan are a good investment.

    FDIC Training seminar videos
    -The training priority

    -Training Battle Ready Firefighters

There is a variety of videos from Chief Vincent Dunn that are also good.

Our department recently subscribed to the Fire Education Television Network or FETN. When we subscribed we also ordered some videos. Every video comes with a test to give to the personel. Also on satelite (sp) we get the different programs. After a member of the department watches the video they can take a test online. Your training officer can then check to see how much everybody has been watching. The only draw back is that they are kind of pricy

We have the Action Video series and like them a lot. It dovetails with information from IFSTA 3 and 4.

I believe you can get them either as VHS or DVD now.
