    Default Wrestlemania XX

All right all you closet wrestling fans- show yourself!

What did you think of Wrestlemania this week?

I recorded it whilst I was at work and watched it last night. Mixed thoughts- some of it was good, some of it I ended up fast forwarding. (For example, fast forwarded all the grappling crap that Brock and Goldberg were doing, till they started to slug it out...)

Anyone go and see it live in NY?

    Kids these days...

I remember watching Hulk Hogan vs Big John Stud in the Hartford Civic Center back in the early 80's. Wouldn't expect you to know who Big John Stud is though...

    Ivan rules!

Bob Backlund used to be my favorite wrestler for years...I remember how upset my brothers were when Backlund got Hogan to help him, essentially turning Hogan "good".

Stayback, you left the Superstar off your list! WHY!??! He was the model for Hogan, Ventura, "Stunning" Steve Austin and more!

    Worst Wrestlemania ever!

Good luck to Brock in his NFL tryouts though. Can you picture Brock and Urlacher on the same team?

    Hell No!

Ric Flair (whoooooooo!), Arn Anderson, Ole Anderson, and Tully Blanchard....The original Four Horsemen, managed by JJ Dillon. Your version of the Horsemen was after many, many line-up changes. I remember the good old days of the NWA when someone would join the Horsemen, like Sting or Lex Luger, then they would all turn on him and beat the snot out of him. Needless to say he wouldn't be in the Horsemen anymore.

I hope you will pardon this intrusion by a "lurker" and civilian - although I am a dispatcher. This thread brought back a few memories for me, too.

I saw Antonino Rocco wrestle in Madison Square Garden when I was in grade school, so that's ancient history.

Some years later, I worked as a cab driver in Minot, ND, and, on one occasion, had Greg Gagne & his partner at the time (can't recall his name) and Billy "Superstar" Graham in my cab. Another time, I took Ivan Putsky, Andre the Giant, Chris Anderson (the weightlifter turned wrestler, who weighed about 400 lbs.) and another guy who was a sometime wrestler, sometime promoter in my cab. Oh, yeah, I used to drive a Checker - for anyone who remembers, those were the really roomy cabs that had 2 jump seats behind the driver.

A couple of other ancient names would be Man Mountain Dean and Gorgeous George.

    Thanks for the memories!
