Home fire causes $10,000 in damage
A fire caused $10,000 in damage to a west Salt Lake house Sunday night.
The fire started about 6 p.m. at a house near 1500 West and 800 South. The house's owner was home at the time and tried putting it out herself but she could not get a fire extinguisher to work, Salt Lake fire spokesman Scott Freitag said. She called the fire department, which arrived on scene quickly because a fire station is down the street from the woman's house.
Fire and damage were contained to the living room, Freitag said. Investigators are determining the cause, but say it is not suspicious.
