*** REPORT FROM THE LINE OF FIRE ***

LOS ANGELES, CA:
MULTI-PATIENT TRAFFIC COLLISION:

On Saturday, March 27, 2004 at 1513 Hours (3:13 PM PST) three Companies of Los Angeles Firefighters, seven LAFD Rescue Ambulances and one EMS Battalion Captain under the direction of 13th Battalion Commander Joe Martin responded to a Multi-Patient Traffic Collision at 859 West Gage Avenue near Menlo Avenue in South Los Angeles. The first Company to arrive reported a collision between a passenger sedan and minivan without entrapment or ejection. A brisk yet methodical triage of patients ranging in age from 2 months to forty-two years yielded two adults with fractured legs and others with lesser injuries. The good to fair condition of all patients was largely attributed to the proper use of seat belts and supplementary air bag restraints. Following on-scene care, LAFD personnel transported the six adults and two children in a gentle and compassionate manner via ambulance to area hospitals. The Los Angeles Police Department is handling the collision investigation.

NOTE: Our protocol requires that an "LAFD Incident Update" be created and distributed whenever five or more ambulances transport from a single incident.
