    Default Fire Fighting Equipment

Hey, for all your firefighters out there, I had a question about how quickly equipment gets used. Specifically, do you buy the boots, gloves, helmets, and bunker gear all together and replace them all together or do you buy and replace them at different rates. That is, do you go through two pairs of boots for every set of turnout gear, or what?

    Thanks!

When the gear gets used we replace it because it is either broken or not up the the NFPA or OSHA standards anymore. We have stuff that is fom the early 90's and late 80's that is in perfectly good shape and still being used and still up to NFPA standards.

Ok, but do certain pieces of equipment tend to break more often than others?

Put another way, if you looked at the amount of gear your department had bought in the last lets say 5 years, would there have been the same number of pairs of boots purchased as turnout gear or helmets or gloves, etc?
