Utah-Plane Crashes in Orem
Plane Crash-Lands in Field
Apr. 2, 2004
(Orem-AP) -- A crash landing in Utah County could have been much worse.
Two Provo men are in an Orem hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after crashing their single engine plane in an alfalfa field around 3:00 am.
The 28-year-old pilot and his 24-year-old passenger took off from Emmett, Idaho last night and were en route to Provo airport when it ran out of gas.
Orem police say the pilot was able to land the plane in the field between Utah Lake on one side and power lines on the other. The plane clipped some trees and flipped once, but landed upright.
The tail section of the plane was torn off and the nose was damaged but the pilot and passenger suffered only cuts and bruises.
The Federal Aviation Administration will investigate.
