I have been trying to get a F1 for my helmet collection for a while. I havent been able to win any auctions on Ebay yet, at least not for my budget.
We are useing Phenix Helmets now for structure and wildland both on my VFD, if ther are any F1 owners out there, myabe in Europe, that would like to exchange a Black or Chome (any color realy, but those are my favorites) F1 for a Phenix 1500 and a MSA Brigade I may consider swaping... depending on condition.
I have never worn an F1, yes, they have a radical look, but I have to believe they offer more protection then most other style fire helmets. They simply cover more of your mellon with hard material then do other helmets. As far as comfort, like I said, I have no idea, never worn one.
One thing I think is realy neat about helmets like this is the SCBA bracket option. You can have it set up so the SCBA facepiece interfaces directly to the helmet. You can don and remove your SCBA without haveing to mess with you helmet or its chin strap.-Brotherhood: I don't know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

I have to ask:
Is that cotton batting they are "fighting through" or is just my eyes playing tricks? Oh wait.. mabye it's the Evil Cotton Candy doing Dr Evil's job again......
But I must agree: those chrome domes just don't look right. Even Tactical Tuperware looks better than that.If you don't do it RIGHT today, when will you have time to do it over? (Hall of Fame basketball player/coach John Wooden)

I heard a voice from the force that said...

I think they look kinda cool. Wonder how much Turtle Wax they use to keep them shiny. Pretty sure they would not work for the way we do things but still looks cool anyways.
Keep your head down and your powder dry.

I kinda like them as well. I like the fact that everything is integrated, and you can slide the visor up into a protected position instead of letting it get bashed on everything in tight spaces.
I was wondering how the integrated SCBA Mask seals though? Without the straps, how do you get the adjustment?Never argue with an Idiot. They drag you down to their level, and then beat you with experience!

During my time in the Swedish airforce we used gallet helmets with draeger SCBA:s and the sealing was OK but the comfort wasn´t as good as the traditional style mask.
And since the mask is only conected to the helmet by two hooks you can´t make the adjustments you can with a traditional one.
It´s fast and easy to use but my choise is the good old one with the straps.Fredrik
