Just curious what everyone thinks on this. I have always been told that including a resume with your FD application is generally a good Idea, but what about a cover letter? I Am applying to Phoenix at the moment and turn in my app at the end of this month. the City employment site calls for a cover letter and resume for most city jobs, but then again most city jobs rely solely on these Items for application. I plan to turn in my resume, but would a cover letter be too much paperwork included with my application and just get ignored?? thanks!

Who will read it?
Save a tree, most raters will not read the cover letter. I'm a one-page resume guy for entry level without a cover letter, not in a binder or folder. Do not give us a book. We will not read it. Don't send the raters on a treasure hunt. Write it believing the raters wonít go past the first page. Keep it simple.
