My department is in a fast growing community with a neighboring community in the same predicament. Recently there was a plan rolled out to combine resources in an enhanced mutual aid agreement. There is even a long term plan to staff a station with firefighters from both departments. I was wondering if anyone else has expierenced this and if so what are the pros and cons, and what can we expect. My personal opinion as a resident is this will make the departments stronger but I was interested in some input. The other community has a full time chief, fire marshall, public ed. we currently are all paid on call. Our budgets are very close along with our needs, we are both fire only departments with ems being provided by our local hospital.
