Hello, I'm new to this board but am looking for some help.
How does your dept. handle EMS station, shift and partner
assignments? Are you allowed to shift/station bid? Do you
keep the same partner? Do you have to switch partners regularly?
If so how does it work? I am currently on a dept that does not utilize a bid system and am trying to compile some data. Any info would be greatly appreciated...thanks for the help!

As the company officer, I assign my ladder and medic crews as I see fit, rotating crews through when necessary. We don't have a bid system, if a vacancy comes open, it is advertised, then force filled or replaced with a new recruit if no volunteers.

We go by seniority. Pick your job (whatever you qualifiy for), from the Tower/ladder to the engine or medic and the least senior person is usually stuck being 911 dispatcher. So your usually with the same person/people unless somebody is off.
