    Well, its time to reserve a spot. Looks like we've outgrown the capacity of the NFA. Too bad, it was really nice there. This time it will be in Texas.

    No, there is no 2004 conference. They are held every other year.

    2005 National Fire/Emergency Services Exploring Conference


    BACKGROUND


    The National Fire/Emergency Services Exploring Committee will host its third biennial National Fire/Emergency Services Exploring Conference. This event began in 2001. One of the reasons for the success of the conference has been the Advisors' active support and participation.


    DATES


    Monday, June 20, 2005 to Thursday, June 24, 2005 (Tentative)


    LOCATION


    Texas Engineering Extension Service/Texas A&M - College Station, Texas


    COST


    The cost is $350 per person.


    PROGRAM


    The program is several days of exciting competitions and events:


    Team competitions. CPR and Movement, Spinal Immobilization and Move, Arson Investigation, Bunker Gear and SCBA Relay, Room Search, Paramedic Biking Competition, Make & Break, Ladder Raise.


    Individual events. One-Person CPR, Candidate Physical Ability (CPAT), Written Examination, Initial Size-Up and Incident Command, Wildfire Shelter Deployment, Bunker Gear and SCBA, Drill Competition. Evening activities: Bucket Brigade and Fire/Emergency Services Jeopardy.


    Seminars. Innovative Fire Apparatus Designs; Mediation Skills: Changing Conflict to Communications; Mistakes that Kill: Hard Lessons and Basic Mistakes from the Emergency Scene; Fire Photography: Capturing the Action; Hometown Terrorism: Real-World Problems in Everytown, USA; Abbottville: A "Model" City of Major Disasters; Smokejumpers and Hotshots: Do You Have What It Takes to Be a "Real" Firefighter?; Initial Patient Assessment: Where It All Starts.


    RESERVATIONS


    The Post Reservation/Security Deposit form is available on the Web site - Click here to download a copy.


    Posts should complete the form and obtain the local Learning for life office signature for approval. Forward the form, along with the $100 post deposit, to the national office. Upon receipt at the national office, the post will receive their conference packet. You must be an Explorer post to attend.


    The 2005 program guidebook and forms will be on this Web site soon.

    Our explorers are attempting to raise the money to go, I think it would be an awesome event to goto.

    In 2003 our post got 2nd Place for the Ladder Raise and 1st Place for the hose event, only post from FL that went.

    There will be eight team events, each sponsored by an agency with considerable expertise in the respective event subject. The events will be as follows:

    INDUSTRIAL FIREFIGHTING: What are the differences: Industrial vs. Municipal
    DANIELLE SMALLEY FOUNDATION: Pipeline Safety and Awareness
    USAR K-9 RESCUE: Review of use of canine search and rescue
    TERRORISM AND WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION: Fire service role in Homeland Defense
    LPG EMERGENCIES: LPG awareness and operations
    FIRE PREVENTION AND INVESTIGATIONS: Overview of fire prevention and arson investigation
    PROTECTIVE CLOTHING: Types and use of personal protective equipment
    FIREFIGHTING TOOLS: Course review and application of new tools used in the fire service
    TEXAS TASK FORCE ONE: NYC response and USAR training
