In the April '04 iss ue of FireRescue magazine there is an article by a FF/EMT-P from the Henderson (Nev)FD about Firefighter Access Plans (FAP's). It's basically a floor plan similar to the evacuation maps that you find in larger buildings, high-rises, etc. They map out distances from the stand-pipe connections, room numbers, elevators, stairwells, hallway lengths, etc. They then mount them near the stand-pipe connections in there buildings.
Anyone else doing something like this? I know some departments have these in a map book in the rig, but can you really remember all that info after hiking up a few flights of stairs carrying all our toys? Sounds like a great idea. Might just have to copy that article and pass it up the chain.
