First Coast Fire & Emergency Services is comprised of NS Mayport and NAS Jacksonville. Currently the department operates 5 stations; two on NS Mayport, two on NAS Jacksonville and one on OLF Whitehouse. The department employs approximately 100 firefighters. I would not be able to accurately estimate NAS Jacksonville's call volume, but NS Mayport runs an average of 3 responses each day. The firefighters on the floor work a 48/72 schedule, while the administrative staff on Mayport works a 56 hour schedule. The department is represented by AFGE Local 2010 and the AFGE Federal Firefighters Council. NS Mayport has a mutual aid agreement with the Cities of Jacksonville, Jacksonville Beach, Atlantic Beach and Neptune Beach; but the request for mutual aid has fallen off quite a bit over the last several years.
