(Sandy-AP) -- A man is dead and his wife is hospitalized after an early morning house fire in Sandy.
Fire officials say firefighters arrived to heavy smoke and fire coming from the garage around 5 a-m. And neighbors say they heard several explosions.
Firefighters located the man dead in the garage. The man's wife was taken to the hospital with some burns and smoke inhalation. There's no word yet on her condition, but fire officials say her injuries do not appear to be life threatening.
The fire was put out just after 5:30 a-m.
Four children who also lived in the home escaped without injuries.
