I noticed on television that all FDNY command posts have a set up that includes what looks like a large metal brief case on tray table legs. Any information on this item would be greatly appreciated.

I am not on the FDNY but have seen them. The top cover has small magnets with all of the engine and ladder companies from the division or borough. The bottom has a place to draw the structure and place the apparatus around it. It also appears to have a radio built into it.

Basic, what a beautiful word.

It even looks FUN!
Very handy, though. I suppose if Microsoft made it, you'd still have to reboot the thing (close the cover, fold the legs)to get it "unfrozen"......

When the world is coming apart around your ears, you had better apply the K.I.S.S. principle. I really like the Microsoft example.

We use something similar, except it is in a Nylon case and does not have a stand. The bottom is a wipe board and we have velcro on it to put our passports from the apparatus on there so we can see who is assigned to what task and such. I'll see if I can get a pic.......
