    Default JROTC Units

How many of you out there are in/are joining a JROTC unit (Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps)? If so, what are your duties, and how the hell does mdoddsjffhnfc go from E-1 to O-2 in less than a year?? I have been a C/SSgt (E-5) for the entire year. I just got promoted to TSgt (E-6) at the end of the yr.

P.S. Bet you havent won any National JROTC awards. Beat my National JROTC Bronze medal awarded by the Sons of the American Revolution

Must be a small group, less people = more work individually, more work = faster promotion?

Or there's the tried and true:

September 5, 2003: Officially given the rank of E-1 (Seaman Recruit) as the unit starts its 1st year of operation, all cadets were E-1's

December 12, 2003: Winter Ball, Officially given the Rank of E-7 (Chief Petty Officer) as the first Officers/Chief Petty Officers/ PO's are named and positions are filled. I was given the Armory Chief position.

December 2003-Early May 2004: Spent Time as E-7 and worked hard, commended for dedication and service to the unit.

May 8, 2004: Change of Command Ball, Officially promoted to the Rank of O-2 (Lieutenant JG) so that the positions vacated by seniors can be filled. I was given the title of Supply Officer, a Department Head position and Command Staff position.

I got the rank of O-2 by all my hard work and dedication to the unit. Plus, we were a new unit this year.

Oh, and I was awarded a JROTC Medal by the American Legion.

hey, try being in a JROTC unit, then maybe you'll understand why i brought this thread back to life. My unit has close to 10 junior firefighters in it, all are hard working cadets and hard working firefighters. what Juniors do on their school time can be posted here, it's about junior firefighters...is it not?

don't be so tight about it next time you post.

Sorry, havent been in this forum in a bit. Well, I made C/MSGt (Cadet Master Sergeant), E-7. I am the Flight Sergeant for Delta Flight, which means I am basically the NCO in charge of the class. I am also the commander of the compitation Colour Guard, which my hopefull girlfriend is also on. Well ,waitin on the USN recruiter to come out here so I can sign some paperwork, and get processed, and hopefully be shipped out in 10 months. Lemme know how it goes for ya

I was in a JROTC unit before and I gotta tell you the kids that were in it were major f*ups. First of all they didnt know what the hell they were doing and they also acted like they were in charge of the whole damn thing. There willingness to learn sucked and all they did was cause trouble telling lies and STEALING stuff. so dont lecture me about this. IVE BEEN THERE and thats why i only did one year of it. If your lucky enough to have a good unit and you guys are good congrats but thats my experience with our JROTC they are all F*ups for the most part.
