Eighth Grader Hit, Killed by School Bus
May. 27, 2004
(Sandy-AP) -- A 14-year-old boy was killed this afternoon in Sandy. Police say he was run over by a school bus after he ran into it with his bicycle.

The victim's name has NOT yet been released.

The victim was riding his bike southbound, and the bus was passing him.

Sandy Police Spokesman Bill O'Neal says for some reason the boy made an abrupt left turn, jumped a curb and hit the right rear side of the bus.

O'Neal says the boy appears to have been pulled under the right rear tire and killed instantly.

Crisis counselors and parents at the school picking up children are helping console students.

It was NOT known how many students were on the bus when it ran over the student, but O'Neal says it was a full bus.

The accident happened after school near 300 East and 11345 South.
