I'm pulling for the Flames of course but am not unhappy with either team winning because both teams are amongst the lowest payrolled teams in the league. I have always loved underdogs and both these teams fit that bill.

Bottom line for me is that, money doesn't always buy championships.

The big winners are the fans.

I don't care for the way the fans treated the US or the Bruins in Montreal and therefore can't go with a Canadian team. Go Tampa.

    Default I remember the 1st

    New York Islanders
    1979-80

It took only eight seasons but the New York Islanders finally took home their first Stanley Cup. Bob Nystrom scored the emotional overtime winner against the Philadelphia Flyers in game six. Only Nystrom and Islander's goaltender Billy Smith had been with the team since the franchise was founded back in 1972. Winning game one, defenseman New York's Denis Potvin scored the first overtime power-play goal in Stanley Cup history. This was the first of four consecutive Cups for the later-crowned New York Islanders dynasty

    Default then there were 2...

    New York Islanders
    1980-81

After another outstanding regular season, the Islanders only lost three playoff games en route to their second straight Stanley Cup. The Islanders met the Minnesota North Stars in the finals and defeated them in a five-game series. The deciding game was a 5-1 triumph at home. New York's Mike Bossy set playoff records for goals (17), assists (18), points (34) and power play goals (9) in only 18 games. The Islander's Butch Goring posted 10 goals, five in the finals, and 10 assists and was awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP.

    Default THREE PETE !!!

    New York Islanders
    1981-82

On May 16, 1982, the New York Islanders became the first team from the United States to win three consecutive Stanley Cups. The Isles' Mike Bossy tied the record for most goals in the finals tallying seven in the four-game sweep of the Vancouver Canucks. Goaltender Billy Smith tied his own record with 15 wins in a playoff and Bryan Trottier amassed 23 playoff assists in 19 games breaking his own record for the second straight season. Bossy was awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy. The regular season was the Islanders best, dominating the National Hockey League with 54 wins.

Default Lord Stanley PLEASE come back to us....

    New York Islanders
    1982-83

A team of experienced Islander veterans literally showed the young Edmonton Oilers how to play playoff hockey, sweeping them four games to none in the Stanley Cup Finals. The Islanders became only the second team in NHL history to capture four-straight Cup titles. New York goaltender Billy Smith limited the Oilers to just six goals in four games and was awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy. Wayne Gretzky recorded only four assists in his first Stanley Cup Final

The Stanley Cup, notably the oldest trophy competed for by professional athletes in North America, was donated in 1892 by Sir Frederick Arthur, Lord Stanley of Preston and son of the Earl of Derby. He purchased the trophy for 10 Guineas ($50.00 at that time) to be presented to "the championship hockey club of the Dominion of Canada." The first team ever awarded the Stanley Cup was the Montreal Amateur Athletic Association in 1893. Since 1910, when the National Hockey Association took possession of the Stanley Cup, the trophy has been symbolic of professional hockey supremacy. Beginning in 1926, only NHL teams have competed for this prized trophy.
