Default Handtub Fire Enjine Exhibition & Pumping Contest

Also posted in the off duty section:

For anybody in the greater Chicago metro area on or around June 26th, there will be a handtub fire engine exhibition and pumping contest at the Aurora Regional Fire Museum, 40 miles west of the Windy City.

I'm going to try to make it this. Should be pretty neat. Any time there's exhibitions involved, I'm game.

Also, on the 27th, Hinckley has it's annual waterfights and pre-Independance Day celebration. Waterfights at noon, World class fireworks after dusk; crafts and associated crap all day.

The average distance was around 140 feet. Not bad for a hand job!

If anybody even remotely interested in fire service history is looking for a day trip, I would strongly recommend planning a trip to the Aurora Regional Fire Museum. They have done an absoutley remarkable job restoring the old central fire station to it's original condition. They have nine pieces of apparatus on display, including a steamer from Chicago; soon they will have exhibits of tons of antique and interesting fire stuff.

jay, thanks for the pics. It's truly remarkable what those old time jakes could make an "engine" do.
